Salem, New Hampshire’s Trap Them have posted a new song on their MySpace page.
Entitled “Carnage Incarnate”, the 3 minute, 27 second long track is a taste of their upcoming 12″ EP Filth Rations. And it’s tasty, if you ask me. Southern Lord will be releasing the one-sided record. The other side will feature etched artwork by Justin Bartlett.
More info on the release will be made available by Trap Them “soon”.

After nearly two decades, long-running Norwegian goth metal outfit Theatre of Tragedy are officially parting ways. In a collective message from the band: “After nearly 17 years in existence Theatre of Tragedy decided to call it a day and close down. This has not been an easy decision and we have thought about this for a long long time. We finally agreed to this during the production of our latest album Forever Is The World.
Theatre of Tragedy will come to an end on October 2, 2010, exactly 17 years after we started making music together. Over the years all of us have strived to combine Theatre of Tragedy with everyday life but in the end it has proven more and more difficult. We have come to appreciate our family lives and jobs, which makes it very hard to continue this life of rock ‘n’ roll on the road.
We know that some of you will probably be very disappointed, but we also hope you will continue to listen to our music, which all of you learned to appreciate and love so much.
We want to thank everyone of you for all your support over the past 17 years! Theatre of Tragedy wouldn’t have been possible without you! Be sure to catch us on the last Theatre of Tragedy shows ever this year! The final gig will take place on October 2nd in Stavanger, where it all began.
Our music will live on… and forever is the world.”

Wisconsin’s given birth to a potent and proud young metal beast which answers to the name ORWELL. Escaping current “for the moment” musical trends, this five-piece attack squad execute massive hooks with extremely professional precision and prowess on their self-released debut full-length Endeavors.
While somewhat reshaping melodic Swedish death metal as mastered by In Flames and Soilwork into a more American style in the vein of Black Dahlia Murder or All That Remains, moments of Endeavors also bleed with a bit of stoner metal one might attribute to Corrosion of Conformity or Down. Scorching solos and lead guitar tracks flow into epic buildups while going head-to-head with destructive death metal and mosh-driven thrash elements, all developing the energetic and empowering flow for the ten tracks of the band’s impressive debut. The entire Endeavors album is available for free streaming here.
Orwell are also one of the 20 contenders in the Metal Insider “No Labels Needed” Contest, where bands are competing for a chance to record an EP with Machine (Lamb of God, Every Time I Die, etc).
After regionally touring throughout the Midwest and sharing the stage with Dead To Fall, Misery Index, Obituary, Intronaut, Napalm Death and countless other nationally touring acts along the way, Orwell are taking to the road heavily in 2010, with regional shows constantly going down, and several months of nationwide touring in the planning stages now.
ORWELL’s upcoming shows:
3/12/2010 The House of Rock – Eau Claire, WI
3/13/2010 The Reptile Palace – Oshkosh, WI w/ Wing Attack
3/26/2010 Lancaster Youth and Ag Building – Lancaster, WI w/Alice 13th, Men Among Giants
3/27/2010 The AfterDark – Steven’s Point, WI W/ No Wings, Heartseeker
4/09/2010 The Red Raven – Fargo, ND w/ The Suit
4/10/2010 World War Scene @ The Eagles Club – Mandan, ND
With this massive album, plenty of tour action, a professionally sculpted video and an overall hard-working band ethos, Orwell are well on their way to becoming a well-known act in the metal world.

Southern Lord is proud to announce the newest members of its coven, brutal Italian group THE SECRET.
In a statement by Southern Lord this week, label owner Greg Anderson stated: “These days it’s extremely rare that we receive a demo submission that blows us away. This was the case with the demo THE SECRET had sent us. Their sound is relentless, uncompromising and extremely lethal. Anti-melody, pro-cacophony!”
Born and shaped in 2003 within the motionless city of Trieste, Italy, THE SECRET come to life as an output for rage, darkness and negativity, combining elements of crust/grind, primitive black metal, dark soundscapes and monolithic riffs that take the listener by the hand through a hallucinated trip towards a foggy and yet invisible tomorrow. After their 2003 Goodfellow Records debut album Luce, the band went through countless lineup changes before finding a new incarnation in 2008 when their second full-length Disintoxication was released. Since then the Goodfellow label has unfortunately ceased to exist, and THE SECRET have now found shelter within Southern Lord’s bleak caves.
This April THE SECRET will enter Godcity Studio in Salem, MA with producer Kurt Ballou to record their Southern Lord debut Solve et Coagula, their sonic interpretation of a total loss of faith in social system, religion, personal redemption and every institution.
You are forewarned of an approaching monolithic steamroller whose destiny is to flatten all in its path!

“Feral are honored to sign to John McEntee’s Ibex Moon Records, having released many albums of artists that we show great respect to. Several years of writing has given us loads of material to choose from and the time to rework our songs to perfection. Expect nothing else than our debut album to be a slab of rotting flesh reeking of groovy Swedish death metal.
New tracks never released in any form will be recorded during this session as well, including probably the most intense material we have ever spawned.
Primal rage and pure malevolence lies ahead, the Feral beast is now howling under the Ibex Moon!”

Formed in the small Northern Swedish town of Norsjo in late 2003 by vocalist Hook and bassist Valmer, Feral was originally known simply as Valmer & Hook. Though the duo never intended for the project to be anything more than a ‘joke band,’ Valmer and Hook soon saw potential in what they were doing and decided to take things to the next level. After relocating to the nearby town of Skellefteå, the pair teamed up with guitarist Svarte Petter and drummer Damien before eventually rounding out their roster with the addition of guitarist Big Mac. With the lineup complete, the band soon began writing and performing around their native Sweden. It was during this time that they took on the name Feral; chosen to match the wild and untamed force and raw power of the band.
Soon thereafter, Feral began recording demos and playing some very high-profile gigs, including a month long European tour with death metal legends Master in February of 2009 and a mini-tour with Six Feet Under in September of the same year. In between these tours, Feral returned to the studio to record the highly acclaimed Welcome To The Graveyard demo, which caught the attention of Ibex Moon Records’ owner, John McEntee, who signed the band to his label late last year.
With a solid lineup, a firm and strong sound, and all the determination in the world, the band now feels stronger than ever before! At the onset of 2010, the group recording their debut full-length CD, Dragged To The Altar, which is to be released later on in the year via Ibex Moon Records.
Only time will tell what the future holds for Feral, but some things are certain:
The band is far from a joke these days. The Feral beast has only just been born, and it will grow stronger and bigger each day. Any obstacles will be struck down, any antagonists will be mangled. The plague will spread, the creature will roar and every time you gaze into the darkness you will see those glowing eyes staring back at you, hungry for more.
