Geez! This extreme metal is EXTREMELY extreme metal! What? It’s from Costa Rica? …well that explains that! South American metal tends to be earth shattering and Azterion is no exception.

An amped up version of Exhumed playing Deicide covers while listening to Sarcofago, Azterion’s Destructural is any death metalers’s/grindhead’s wet nightmare! Vocally, isn’t about as brutal as it gets with the dynamic duo of dual death growls and blackened death ghoul screams. And it doesn’t matter that I don’t understand what the fuck he’s saying since he’s going at it in what I’m going to guess is Spanish. Every track in Destructural is almost literally bleeding with a vile hatred anything (or possibly everything, given the sheer intensity of it all)!

The last track however, Kanashimi, is a few keys tickled while a distorted voice regales you with a melancholy sounding story… but again, I don’t know for sure. At any rate, it’s an calming ending to this chaotic romp through a blitzkrieg of metal most violent!

Overall: Gutturally gruesome in all of the right ways! Azterion is on my Hot Shit list and will be tapped for future releases without a doubt!

Cassette Tape #2 in my two part exploration into the twisted metal minds of those loveable walking STDs, the Nekro Drunkz… though this time they’ve got company! A surprisingly well know Slovenian grind outfit known as Dickless Tracy (Does he have weekly skirmishes with Prune Sack and Flatcock?). So hang on tight, grab a Icehouse and start up a Lenzi flick! Let’s review us a Rape Tape!

Nekro Drunkz (Side Gore) – An excrement.. er, excellent example of what a single, unshaven, high school dropout is probably listening to when he’s not jerking-off to the latest Gianna Michaels vid on SpankWire! Gritty, nasty grind that boarders on necropedophilia… with a Neil Diamond tribute!

Dickless Tracy (Side Grind) – With a sound that’s a bit more refined than there American counterparts, Dickless Tracy concentrates on brutality rather than speed (though there is plenty of that). Dipping into some out of left field grooves that disperse into brain bludgeoningly brutal riffs and severe drum abuse, Dickless Tracy make grind their bitch and it is begging to be gagged! Highly recommended, period!

Overall: A trip down Testicular Strangulation Lane with a stop over in Cheese Grater To The Face Way. Down and dirty grind with elements of… BDSM and… stuff… *shudder*. Just pick up the damn Rape Tape!

Ah… references to the conversations my parents had when they learned of my conception… I mean, yeah! Alright! More brutal death metal from those glorious bastards at Comatose Music! Let’s see what Coathanger Abortion have to offer with Dying Breed.

Starting things off with a creepy as fuck Nightmare On Elm Street sample, these good ol’ boys from Chattanooga, Tennessee riff, shred, dismember and grind their way through Dying Breed. It sounds like the auditory lovechild of a coked up Suffocation and a sloppily hammered Dying Fetus, with riffs that spike and blow in out of nowhere and double bass blasts that can last of hours. The vocal approach is mostly garbled gargling of the undead kind that occasionally slips over into squeal and shriek territories. Dig rotten (in the only good way) death metal? Then you’ll dig this!

Overall: Brutal, gore ridden, disgusting and full of whatever the hell that thing is on the kit that makes that “ding” noise, Dying Breed may not break any new ground, but it sure as hell does what it can to saturate said ground with buckets of blood!

But not because this album sucks. Not at all! Quite the contrary in fact. That sign is for all the poser bitches who thought that the Spawn character of the same name (or anything related to that series) was cool. Fuck you guys! Image sucks!

Anyway, there’s deathgrind to be heard here! And let me tell you, if fucking owns! You’ve got a sturdy metal structure (with framework done by Deicide) on the foundation that Exhumed laid down, with the grand opening resided over by the cloven one! Yay! Eviiiiillllllllll!!! The vocals are your typical death growls that are accompanied by some pitchy screams and the occasional squeal. In the stings department, you aren’t let down by the groovy riffs or the booming backing either. The solos are fun, but nothing all that exhilarating this time around though. As far as the kit punishment goes, it’s what you’ve come to expect from deathgrind and a little bit more. Rapid beats and bass kickin’ brutality fly you from here to there on a rocket made of human remains! Badass! I’ve had a couple of people tell me that this band isn’t really worth my time. Now I have to find new credible sources…

Overall: Wholly entertain and evil as fuck, Requiem For The Inexorable is a solid release and a welcome addition to the libraries of fans of both brutal death metal and grind. I wonder if Dante had this in mind when he spoke of the Inferno…

In a statement by Southern Lord this week, label owner Greg Anderson stated: “These days it’s extremely rare that we receive a demo submission that blows us away. This was the case with the demo THE SECRET had sent us. Their sound is relentless, uncompromising and extremely lethal. Anti-melody, pro-cacophony!”

Born and shaped in 2003 within the motionless city of Trieste, Italy, THE SECRET come to life as an output for rage, darkness and negativity, combining elements of crust/grind, primitive black metal, dark soundscapes and monolithic riffs that take the listener by the hand through a hallucinated trip towards a foggy and yet invisible tomorrow. After their 2003 Goodfellow Records debut album Luce, the band went through countless lineup changes before finding a new incarnation in 2008 when their second full-length Disintoxication was released. Since then the Goodfellow label has unfortunately ceased to exist, and THE SECRET have now found shelter within Southern Lord’s bleak caves.
