Hmmm… how do I begin this review?
First up, I’m not into this. At all. It’s kind of like watching Baptized in Blood again; all the same stuff all the time. But, there are some redeeming qualities that WtC has over BiB.
Such as their drummer. He’s pretty fucking good. Their guitarists have some good riff-writing skills. Their bassist is competent at following the guitars. Their vocalist, however, I do not like. He’s also competent at following the guitars, which isn’t too bad usually, but when it’s through the whole fucking song? Come on people.
Now if only each song didn’t sound exactly the same as the other, and they had more than just br00tality going on for them. Such as brutality. Or even songs that weren’t made out of breakdowns with breakdowns between them.

From 1984 comes ZÜÜL, a band of pure metal heart and soul. Wait, what? This came out this year? And they’re a newer band? Well now, that throws a bit of perspective on it, doesn’t it?
In the same vein as a ton of real metal bands that are older than myself, ZÜÜL release their newest album and it’s a killer fist pumping disc full of sing-along choruses and riffs as electric as lightning to your face.
If you’re into stuff like Grand Magus, Judas Priest, or Metalian, you’ll probably get a stiff for ZÜÜL.

All hail the Master of old school death metal!
Master’s newest assault on the senses is fast, brutal, and politically charged. There’s great riffs, great solos, and great vocals. But at times it touches cookie-cutter territory, taking the same riff for too long, or similar riffs used in different songs. Thankfully, these times are few and far between, leaving the listener to bang their head to good stuff like “Twisted Truth”, “Suppress Free Thinking”, and the album closer “Impale to Kill”.
If you’re looking for American death metal the way that it should be played, while adding in some thrash and punk elements, look no further than The Human Machine.

A CD that was unexpected in my mailbox, Auternus was not unwelcome. Their soundscapes are very much reminding me of a cross between A Perfect Circle, whom they cite as an influence, and My Bloody Valentine, with some Isis for flavor.
According to their promo package, they’re playing a lot of shows, getting distributed, and just all-around trying to get their music out there. These guys are working their asses off, and I’m sure that if I didn’t review this CD, you’d still hear about them in time.
If you’re into ambient that’s not boring, or metal-edged rock that makes you think a little, check out Auternus.
