Megahera - Lethal Noise of Violence

Genres: Hard Rock, Thrash
Label: Independent

Megahera hail from Italy, and make a very Italian sounding metal, and it’s pretty damn good.
It’s a good hard rock mixed with thrash, which provides an interesting sound and feel. Lyrics are mostly in English, with some Italian going on, which lends itself well to metal.
The only thing that sucks about this EP is that it’s only four tracks! I want more!
If you’re a fan of 80′s thrash, some punk, and 90′s rock, you should probably like Megahera.
7 out of 10.

HOD Issues Tour Update

Posted in Tour Update on March 8th, 2010 by General Blaspheme

As expected, the mini-tour featuring Ibex Moon Records’ HOD and GRAVEHILL was a whirlwind of brutality that left the state of Texas in shambles. Over the course of three shows the Ibex Moon labelmates set a new standard for live intensity as each band delivered some of the best extreme metal in the underground today. HOD guitarist Carl “Lord Necron” Snyder issued this summary of the slaughter:
“The Texas onslaught with GRAVEHILL has been merciless. P.A. Systems crashing to ground. Women beating women. Men beating men. Holy hell it’s been brutal! GRAVEHILL’s death metal assault has to be witnessed live to understand the brutality. HOD has unleashed some new songs on this tour including ‘Under Tyranny’s Hammer’ and ‘Walking Wounded’. The crowd response has been killer for the new material. We hope to see all you maniacs out on the road soon.”

HOD’s Serpent was released last year on Ibex Moon Records, an album that Zero Tolerance called a “venomous explosion of black, death, and thrash metal fury” and Terrorizer called “non-commercialised, uncompromising and slightly unhinged death metal.”

Svartsot – Mulmets Viser

Posted in Reviews on March 8th, 2010 by Typhon

Genres: Folk Metal. Death Metal
Label:
Napalm Records

Featuring almost an entirely new line-up (new vocalist, bassist, drummer and rhythm guitarist) Svartsot leaves the tavern and returns to the battlefield with their unique blend of mead fueled folkened death metal in Mulmets Viser! Can it stand up to the critically acclaimed Ravnenes Saga? Let’s read on…

A Danish damnit, if this album doesn’t beat all! Blending heavy death metal influences with flutes, whistles and the odd accordion and eerily in-place mandolin, Mulmets Viser chews through the competition and spits out their bones! The tone is always light and the pace is generally in the area of a five, but the riffs vary from straight up death to melodic. New vocalist Thor Bager sounds like a slightly shorter Johan Hegg after a week long benderl angry and ready for a fight! Like a mad, lone warrior dashing into the fray of war with his axe held high, Svartsot ravages your expectations with this battle-ready outing!

Overall: For fans of booze, bloodshed, oaken shields, battle axes, death metal, folk metal or just looking for a great way to spend forty-nine minutes! Rally your horde with a battle cry and go headlong into battle with a copy of Mulmets Viser by your side!

9.5/10
