Fresh off a successful European tour with labelmates DIVINE EVE, along with HATE, NOCTUM and NERVE, legendary death metal outfit, INCANTATION are excited to announce their inclusion in two of this summer’s most brutal metal fests. Both taking place July 15th – 17th, INCANTATION will be a featured headliner at the Obscene Extreme Festival in the Czech Republic and are playing Austria’s Kaltenback Open Air Festival as well. INCANTATION guitarist / founder, John McEntee had this to say regarding the upcoming appearances,
“We are proud to announce that we will be one of the headliners for the Obscene Extreme Festival in the Czech Republic. We have heard a lot of great things about this festival and are looking forward to it very much. There are numerous other great death metal and grind bands playing so I’m sure it will be a great time. I would also like to thank the festival organizers for including my other band FUNERUS on the festival. We look forward to putting on a totally kick ass show and we plan on making this a very special performance for all of our die hard supporters.
We are also playing the Kaltenbach Open Air Festival in Austria. It will be a great honor to play there once again since we haven’t played there since our tour opening up for NILE and UNLEASHED a good while back. The lineup for the fest is nothing short of amazing and it will be great to play alongside such great bands and friends. We are looking forward to spewing forth our style of pure raw underground death metal.”
As previously mentioned, joining INCANTATION on their trek overseas will be Ibex Moon Records’ labelmates and McEntee’s other musical endeavor, FUNERUS. Known for their gutturally low-end brand of death metal, FUNERUS is currently working on the follow up to their debut album, Festering Earth. Bassist Jill McEntee issued the following statement:
“FUNERUS will be playing Obscene Extreme Fest 2010 and Kaltenbach Open Air 2010. We are very excited to be a part of both of these festivals! This will be our first time playing both the Czech Republic and Austria. We look forward to seeing some old friends and meeting alot of new ones.”
In other INCANTATION news, February will see the release of the Scapegoat 7″ picture disc. This release will be limited to 1000 copies. Visit Ibex Moon for details and ordering information.

USBM has never sounded like this. It is honestly kind of hard to describe this EP, except that if you listen to it, you won’t listen to black metal the same again. This is an unholy fusion of occult black metal, and it’s definitely not for the faint of heart.
Comparisons are useless here as well. I don’t think there’s much in the way of pure USBM that can compare with Keraphorus right now. For non pure American black metal, comparisons could be Divine Eve, who are right up there with the asskicking, and of course if we leave the continent we can go to Dark Funeral and Marduk for sheer violence and hate.
NWN! has upped the ante for all labels when it comes to USBM with the release if Keraphorus, and I think this band has what it takes to lead black metal to the future. I just hope to hell that an LP is coming soon, because fuckwow this EP is just too short.

Ares Kingdom have been around for a few years now, but they’re new for me. Their newest album, Incendiary, is a hell of an introduction to them, too. It’s like Death and Anthrax hung out and jammed with Judas Priest.
Killer death and thrash riffs that make you bang your head and pump your fist while classic heavy metal solos shred your face off with razor sharp precision.
This is another one of those reviews that’s really easy to write. Kick ass music to kick ass to. I definitely recommend you grab yourself a copy, and on several different formats to choose from, it shouldn’t be too hard. Favorite tracks are “Descent of Man”, “Ashen Glory”, and “Beasts That Perish”.
